Idiot Heart

Decided it’s better to make no money and be able to work in a  creative and inspiring environment, then to accept a corporate job for more money where I would probably hate my life. You can call me naive, but you can’t call me a Republican.

P.S.

Did I mention this girl brought her pet cockatoo to work today? Yeah, it’s chirping at her desk until she returns from the bathroom. Theatre people.

So torn by this Union Tribune article, that I needed to post about it.

On March 5th, 2001, I was sitting in my fifth grade classroom situated in the flat, desert landscape of Santee, California. Our principal came on over the loudspeaker announcing a “lockdown”. We’d done the drill before, get under your desk, your teacher locks all the doors and windows and turns out the lights. At first, Mrs. Richards looked alarmed but told us it was merely a drill, everything was “fine.” As her phone began ringing frantically, a sense of panic swept over our classroom. Mrs. Richards hung up the phone, stood up quietly and said, “Anyone who has a sibling or parent at Santana high school, please come with me into the hall closet.”

Who runs the world?

Girls. Alright, internet, prepare for a vehement rant on the state of XX-chromosome bearers err’ywhere.

Is it just me, or does anyone else hate when other girls say:

  1. I just don’t get along with girls, they’re too much drama.
  2. I’m really more of a dude inside, girls are too catty.
  3. I don’t really have girlfriends, I just don’t click with women.

Let me be the one to tell you, you sound like an asshat. No one gets along with everyone, but by swearing off any type of connection with your own gender, you are taking women like 10 years back in time. This attitude reflects the belief that women are inherently mean, petty creatures.

Not all women are catty, there is an unstated competition amongst women in the workplace, that I can admit to; but the sole reason this exists is because there are so few positions of power available to us and then on top of being intelligent, you’re expected to be pretty and put together as well. So yeah, women are competitive, but we don’t need to be mean. Instead of spurring competition against one another and saying you can’t be friends with your own gender, why don’t you try being nice instead?

Chances are, if you don’t get along with any woman ever, not even your mom or sisters or roommate or female cat the problem is probably you.

End rant.

Thank you and good day.
